Commands and shortcuts
Use slash commands and keyboard shortcuts to control a Vibe session without leaving the terminal.
Slash commands
Type / in the CLI prompt to open the slash-command picker. Autocomplete suggests matching commands as you type. The table below lists the built-in commands.
Skills can also expose themselves as slash commands. If you see a / command that isn't in this list, it likely comes from a local skill (check ~/.vibe/skills/ or your project's .vibe/skills/), or from a plugin when its name has a namespace: prefix.

Keyboard shortcuts
Some shortcuts may not work in every combination of terminal emulator, SSH session, or terminal multiplexer (such as tmux). See Terminal support for recommended terminals and workarounds.

Ctrl+J, Alt+Enter, or Shift+Enter | Insert a new line. Shift+Enter works only in terminals that report it. |
Ctrl+C | If text is selected, copy it. Otherwise, clear the input. With an empty input, deny the pending approval, remove the newest queued message, or interrupt the agent. When nothing is running, press twice to quit. |
Ctrl+D | Delete the character to the right. With an empty input, press twice to quit, or once when ask_confirmation_on_exit = false. |
Ctrl+Z | Suspend the CLI (macOS and Linux). |
Escape | Interrupt the current operation or close the open dialog. |
Escape twice | Open rewind to go back to a previous message. With text in the input, clear the input instead. |
Ctrl+O | Toggle tool output. |
Ctrl+G | Edit the current input in an external editor. |
Ctrl+R | Start or stop voice recording when voice mode is on. Escape cancels the recording. |
Ctrl+Y | Copy the current selection (macOS and Linux). |
Ctrl+Shift+C or Cmd+C | Copy the current selection. |
Shift+Tab | Cycle through agents. |
Shift+Up | Scroll the chat up. |
Shift+Down | Scroll the chat down. |
Cmd+\ or Alt+\ | Toggle the todo list panel. |
Ctrl+\ | Toggle the debug console. |
You can also click tool approval options, question options, and picker entries, and drag scrollbars with the mouse. Click the model in the footer to open /model. Click a tool group, a tool call, or a "Thought" row to expand or collapse it.
Drag to select text: double-click selects a word, and triple-click selects a paragraph. Vibe copies the selection when you release the mouse, unless you set autocopy_to_clipboard = false. To select and copy with your terminal instead, set enable_mouse_capture = false (see Select and copy text).
